Short-Track Speed Skating Trial
Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive speed skating that usually involves multiple skaters on a hockey-sized skating rink. Using specialized skates with long thin blades, the skaters glide with grace and speed, competing for position. It is an exciting sport that offers great conditioning and strength training for the whole body.
The Eislauf Club beider Basel (Skating Club of both Basels) would like to generate interest in the sport of short-track speed skating and will be offering a free trial at the Kunsteisbahn Margarethen this evening. Whether you are a hockey player, figure skater, or complete novice on skates, all levels and ages are welcome, as are English-speakers! Basel's last Olympic speed skater, Martin Feigenwinter, as well as current cantonal record holder and Olympic hopeful Dietrich Varaklis will be on hand to show you how it’s done. Don’t miss it!
Entrance and specialized skate rental will be free for this event; register your interest (and shoe size) at schnelllauf@ecbb.ch; by scanning the QR code on their website, or by filling out the form at https://forms.gle/e2gbETZ9bTCrzWJS6.
