The Sinfonieorchester Basel under the direction of Pierre Bleuse and with pianist Bertrand Chamayou will be performing three works to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Maurice Ravel’s birth. The Parisian composer Ernest Chausson was one of the most promising talents in French music. He died at the age of just 44 as the result of a bicycle accident. The premiere of his only symphony in 1890 was a great triumph for the composer. It is a milestone in French music—as is Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major, whose jazz influences give the work a groovy flavor. Also on the program for this evening will be the world premiere of an orchestral work by Basel-based composer Friedemann Treiber.
Tickets are CHF 35-110 for adults and half price for youths up to age 16 and students.
