Sinfonisches Orchester Schweiz — Our World

The Sinfonisches Orchester Schweiz (Swiss Symphonic Orchestra) presents an evening of music that doesn't shy away from the present: Gregor A. Mayrhofer's “Insect Concerto” sharpens your ears for a sound world threatened with extinction in everyday life—the orchestra not merely imitates motifs inspired by insects but takes them seriously as a musical language. Silvan Loher's “GAIA” broadens this perspective to a grander outlook and celebrates its first public performance as a world premiere. Nature appears here not as a backdrop, but as a system of relationships that needs protection—and as an emotional touchstone for how we want to live. With Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, late Romanticism responds not with escape, but with inner resistance. The listeners experience a work that was rediscovered after a crisis and continues to resonate today with its expansive melodic arcs, its warmth, and its tension. Between contemporary urgency and the radiance of high Romanticism, a musical arc emerges that moves, focuses, and activates—because it connects the audible with the responsible.
