“Snapshot” Photo Contest — Awards and Exhibition

Naturhistorisches Museum Basel
Thursday, 23 March
18:30

The photo competition “Snapshot” that was held in conjunction with the special exhibition at the Natural History Museum “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” honors nature photographs by amateur photographers.
From the three categories "Plants, Landscapes, and other Natural Phenomena," "Animal Portraits/Animals in their Habitat," and "Children See Nature," an external expert jury including Sven Eisenhut (Director photo basel), Melody Gygax (Picture Editor and Cultural Representative MAGNUM PHOTOS), and Natacha Salamin (photographer) has selected the 10 best pictures of each category.
At the awards ceremony, the jury will present the three winning images in each category and tell you why these particular photographs were chosen. The photographers will receive prizes from the Basler Fotohaus. In addition, an audience award will be presented for the first time by Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank with the title “Our region is this beautiful—together for a sustainable nature and a future worth living.” Find out which photograph from the region has emerged as the public's favorite.
The awards ceremony coincides with the opening of an exhibition of the 30 best photographs submitted in the competition (10 images per category). They will be on display until Sunday, April 16. Until then, you can also view all the submitted competition photographs on three monitors in the museum.
Admission to this event is free.
