Wednesday, 19 July
18:00-20:00

During the warm summer months, the rhythms and sounds of the Sound Garden will once again resound around the pavilion in the park of the Fondation Beyeler. Every Wednesday evening, you can enjoy music by regional and national artists over cool cocktails. From jazz to samba and hip-hop to neo-soul and Afrobeat—the Sound Garden's multifaceted music program invites you to let the midweek summer evenings come to a relaxed close in the Museum Park and to discover new favorite music. Enjoy the evening breeze as you lay back in the beautiful setting of the serene park and enjoy great music for free.
With touching sounds and expressive voices, Lynn Aineo and Mer Anyang tell of freedom, joy, suffering, and hope in an "East African Affair Edition" of the Sound Garden. Anyang is a singer-songwriter from South Sudan. With her powerful vocals and haunting songs, Mer not only tells her own story, but invites all to join her on a journey of healing through music. Aineo is also a musical storyteller whose music is inspired by her immediate surroundings and personal experiences as a black queer woman. Born in Uganda and living in Zürich, she sings in her native language Runyankole-Rukiga and English. Lynn is accompanied by two musicians, Filipo Ateesa (guitar) from Uganda and Toma (drums) from Tanzania, both of whom now live in Munich. For both Anyang and Aineo, the cultural and musical influences of their home countries play a central role in their music, which they share with in an intimate concert this evening.
This event is free and no advanced booking is required.
