Stimmen Festival — Bukahara / Sharktank
The Stimmen (Voices) music festival has become the largest music event on the Upper Rhine, attracting an impressive array of international stars, soloists, and choirs, providing magical moments and musical experiences for young and old. From July 4 to August 4, the festival will pay homage to the power and beauty of the human voice at various special venues in Germany and Switzerland.
In a climate in which protectionism, isolation, and nationalism seem to be necessary, Bukahara are doing the only right thing—they are opening the window wide and letting in fresh air. Their music lies like a cooling blanket on our crisis-stricken souls and derives its urgency primarily from the fact that it does not rely on escapist folklore. Rather, the sounds are steeped in folk in a wistful, beautiful way. No sound or word happens to be in their place. The precision and feeling with which Bukahara opens up endless spaces for the themes and moods of the songs establish their truthfulness. Ahmed Eid (bass, percussion), Max von Einem (trombone), Daniel Avi Schneider (violin, mandolin), and Zoghlami (vocals, guitar, drums) combine folk, blues, swing, and Arabic influences in their sound to create their very own style. At their concert on this evening, they will present a program for “30 Years of STIMMEN,” which they designed especially for the festival.
More than 15 million streams for their debut single “Washed Up,” two released albums, and a first tour with sold-out shows in Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna, and Munich have made Sharktank an integral part of the music scene in German-speaking countries. Since their second album, “Acting Funny,” which was released in March 2023, they have also been making a name for themselves internationally. The album is extravagant and experimental. The band skillfully weaves familiar melodic vocals, synth sounds, rap, and rock through to pop tunes. The musicians prove with ease what it means to swim against and at the same time with the flow without getting stuck in one place.
Tickets are € 59.
