Join Swiss Discovery Tours (a collaboration between You Belong in Basel (https://www.ybibasel.ch/) and Fresh Air Kids (https://www.freshairkids.com/) on lovely historic hike starts and ends in Gelterkinden and passes by the historic Farnsburg Castle ruins. They will stop by the Farnsburg farm, where you’ll have the opportunity to purchase local meat and cheese, which you can then enjoy for lunch at the Farnsburg Castle ruins with fantastic views of the Black Forest and the Jura.
The hike is 11 km, with 472 meters of elevation gain/loss, suitable for fitness level beginner+. Wear weather-appropriate clothes in layers and good hiking boots. You will also need to bring a water bottle and snack, plus lunch. This hike is for adults only (no kids please), dogs are welcome. They will confirm that it is happening the day before, according to the weather.
The tour will start at the meeting point of the Basel SBB, under the timetable at 9:30. They will be taking the 10:01 train to Gelterkinden Bahnhof from Platform 16. Please purchase your train ticket in advance. The return will be from the Gelterkinden Bahnhof; they plan to take the 15:59 train back to Basel SBB, arriving at 16:27.
