The American Standup Show Basel is back with another amazing English stand-up comedy show, this time with incredibly funny headliner André de Freitas! De Freitas is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor who made history by being the first Portuguese comedian to perform in a fully English-billed stand-up show at the Edinburgh festival as well as the Los Angeles Comedy Store. He started his path in the performing arts at age 15, when he first got accepted into the Escola Profissional de Teatro de Cascais (Professional Drama School) in the greater Lisbon area. Having finished his stint at the school, he decided to try stand-up, which led to some success in the local comedy scene. Deciding that he wanted an international career, he moved to London in 2016, via the United States. His CV includes tour support for Portuguese star Rui Sinel de Cordes on his 2017 sold-out tour around Portugal, and in London he has performed alongside many of biggest comedians in the U.K. (Jack Whitehall, Russell Howard, Ed Byrne, Josh Widdicombe, etc). He has also opened for U.S. comic Tom Rhodes and, most recently, in 2019 he opened for Jim Gaffigan on the “Pale Tourist Tour” as well as for Russell Peters in 2022. Currently residing in London, de Freitas is a regular figure at some of the best comedy clubs.
As always, there will also be a mix of diverse lovable and hilarious local comedians. The best English-speaking comedians in Switzerland will be at the Parterre One in Basel for an evening of hilarity and great comedy.
Tickets are CHF 25 for adults and CHF 10 for students in advance (up to 4 days before the event) or CHF 35 for adults and CHF 15 for students after that and are exclusively available online.
