“The Art of Duo” — Bill Frisell & Thomas Morgan Duo

Stadtcasino Basel
Sunday, 23 April
20:45

Guitarist Bill Frisell is one of the most established modern musicians of our time, effortlessly switching between jazz, pop, and contemporary music. He is one of the most individualistic and innovative of his instrument. Along with John Scofield, Pat Metheny, and Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell is one of the most well-known and respected guitarists. On their 2017 album “Small Town,” Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan presented a collection of special duets that not only demonstrate their virtuoso interaction but also the poetry in their music. In addition to original compositions by bassist Morgan and jazz guitarist Frisell, which also reveal his fondness for country and blues, "Small Town" featured a number of new interpretations of foreign pieces. This includes a version of John Barry's James Bond song "Goldfinger" and the song "It Should Have Happened a Long Time Ago." Another highlight of the album is a cover of Lee Konitz's “Subconscious Lee.”
