The Essential Hebrew Violin

Stadtcasino Basel
Sunday, 25 June

Award-winning Swiss violinist Anne Battegay, alongside Francois Robin on cello and Alessandro Tardino on piano, will play works that were mainly written by Jewish composers such as Achron, Bloch, and Krein, who lived during the golden age of Judaism at the beginning of the 20th century and transformed simple Chassidic tunes into powerful pieces for the violin. However, non-Jewish composers such as Bruch and Ravel also shared the idea of dressing Jewish prayers and melodies in instrumental forms. With this wonderful music, the audience will be transported into another world, a world of warmth and spirituality of Jewish life as it happened in the shtetl.
Tickets are CHF 46.60-56.90 for adults and half-price for students.
