The Movement Arena — International Urban Dance Battles

Augusta Raurica
Saturday, 24 June
17:00-23:00

In 2016, the organization The Movement was founded by professional dancers and cultural workers as a platform for promoting movement, education and hip-hop arts with the aim of allowing children, young people, and other interested parties to discover their own potential through movement, music, design and language. With "the movement arena," the non-profit organization offers local, national, and international artists as well as young talents a platform to present themselves to a broad public. The selection of inspiring locations, the professional framework, and the world-class performances are fixed values of "the movement arena," which since its debut it has developed into one of the most important events of the urban dance scene in Switzerland.
After two successful events at the Münsterplatz and Elisabethenkirche in Basel in 2019 and 2021, the third edition of "the movement arena" will take place on this Saturday in the Roman Arena at Augusta Raurica. The Roman theater provides an impressive backdrop for the contemporary "dance battle," and the contrast between antiquity and urban modernity will inspire and delight both participants and audience.
The Movement invites international and local greats as well as young talents of urban hip-hop movement art to compete in a top-class "dance battle." In addition to the main focus on the dance style "Breaking," the creativity of the performers is challenged, and the mix of styles, freestyle performances, and various techniques makes this type of battle a unique spectacle for the audience as well.
Tickets are CHF 25 for adults, CHF 15 for kids ages 12-18 years and students, and free for kids under age 12. Note that the ticket entitles you to a return trip in the TNW area to Augst/Kaiseraugst on the day of the event.
