Stadtcasino Basel
Friday, 08 March

Hans Zimmer became famous with his film music for "Rain Man" and has since helped numerous Hollywood blockbusters achieve success and a dramatic, emotional impact. No other composer has influenced the film world in the last two decades as much as Oscar, Globe, and Emmy winner Zimmer with his breathtaking compositions for films such as “Top Gun,” “Dune,” “James Bond,” “The Lion King,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Gladiator,” “The Dark Knight,” “Man of Steel,” “Inception,” and “Interstellar.” The audience can expect a great musical evening with a film music orchestra, choir, soloists, a light show, and selected film excerpts for an unforgettable audiovisual experience for film enthusiasts, music lovers, and families of all ages. The audience will also learn interesting background stories, such as how Zimmer completely changed the beginning of "Gladiator" with Ridley Scott or smuggled a message against apartheid into the lyrics for "The Lion King" in the local language and told the big Disney company that it was about butterflies. Zimmer often cited Ennio Morricone as his idol and role model, from whose repertoire excerpts from "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in America" will be heard. "The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others" is a unique film music experience suitable for the whole family.
Tickets are CHF 59-119 for adults and CHF 50-110 for students.
