Pianist Martin Tingvall is not a jazz purist and does not intend to be one. "I actually come from rock," he says himself. This makes development of his trio, which has won a total of three ECHO awards and six Jazz Awards and has become an integral part of the elite of the European jazz scene, all the more remarkable. Like few international jazz trios, they have developed their very own, recognizable sound, based on catchy melodies and the dynamic between poetic ballads and energetic rhythms. On the current album "Dance" the trio even goes one step further and increasingly processes world music influences that play with Arabic sounds and Latin American cheerfulness.
