For his new album “Live at Haberhaus,” saxophonist Christoph Grab complemented his previous trio with Lukas Thöni and Andreas Tschopp by adding two wind instruments. But the basis remained the music of jazz visionary Thelonious Monk, whose compositions Grab presents in a new light, without compromising their simplicity. With lots of humor and lightness, the musicians bounce ideas off each other and show that something new and unheard of can be created from iconic materials of jazz history—even without a harmony instrument. On this evening, Grab will be accompanied by Thoeni (trumpet), Andrea Andreoli (trombone), Bänz Oester (bass), and Pius Bachnagel (drums).
