Touch — Lionel Loueké / Wolfgang Muthspiel / Linda May Han Oh

Volkshaus Basel
Saturday, 26 April
21:15-22:15

Wolfgang Muthspiel grew up in Judenburg as the son of the composer and choir teacher Kurt Muthspiel. After studying guitar (classical/jazz) at the Graz University of Music, he moved to the United States in 1986. From 1986 to 1989, he completed his studies at the New England Conservatory and the Berklee College of Music. The high status that Wolfgang Muthspiel already had in the American jazz scene at a young age can be seen in the fact that Gary Burton hired him in his band as the successor to Pat Metheny. In 2002, Muthspiel returned to Vienna, where he founded his own record label "material records." Since 1998 he has worked regularly with the American drummer Brian Blade. In addition to two recordings in a trio with bassist Marc Johnson, the two formed a successful duo.
In this concert entitled “Touch,” Muthspiel gives himself a present for his 60th birthday—an all-star trio with Hancock guitarist Lionel Loueké and bass icon Linda May Han Oh.
Tickets are CHF 38.20-83.90; discounts for holders of a Bider & Tanner Kundenkarte. Consider a combi ticket for both back-to-back concerts on this night at the Volkshaus for CHF 43.40-93.90 (https://www.offbeat-concert.ch/35.-festival/kombiticket-arbenz/arbenz-und-muthspiel/loueke).
