Inspired by Friedrich Schiller’s famous quote from 1795, "Art is a daughter of freedom," the Fondation Beyeler’s new collection showcase exhibition offers a thematic journey through the exhibition spaces and reveals new, surprising, and unusual juxtapositions. By extension, this presentation offers scope for dialogues between perspectives and immediacy, between intensely colored paintings and minimalist compositions, and between physicality and landscape. The new exhibition focuses on Alberto Giacometti and Ferdinand Hodler, whose expressive figures and monumental landscapes are linked thematically and artistically to other masterpieces from the collection, including works by Francis Bacon, Louise Bourgeois, Paul Cézanne, Marlene Dumas, and Pablo Picasso. A separate room is dedicated to the internationally influential sculptor Thomas Schütte, commemorating his 70th birthday.
On this afternoon there will be an English-language tour of the exhibit.
Cost of the tour is CHF 7, in addition to the museum entrance fee.
