Traumatica — Festival of Fear
Each Halloween season, Europapark hosts the multiple award-winning “Traumatica” – terrifying events that are designed to scare even the toughest of crowds. In this year’s Traumatica Story, the haze between fiction and reality is becoming ever thinner as a new dark force begins to creep in and take control. Disguised by the inconspicuous, everyone is tempted to step a little closer and thus walks into their own downfall. Bit by bit, the darkness takes over everything and everyone. The once thriving Festival of Fear now feels like a small world trapped in a bubble and part of a much larger, darker, and more malevolent universe controlled by evil forces. While Grim and his crazy clowns gather a collection of freaks around them and the festival atmosphere begins to take hold, Madame Monroe’s inner circle of witches have managed to pierce the veil and open a gate through which darkness can enter the festival grounds. This is just the beginning and the whole universe of Traumatica is slowly becoming visible. An ever-growing collection of dark, twisted worlds and timelines, all brought together under the guise of ‘Traumatica Pictures’ to invade our minds and push the boundaries of human fear.
During “Traumatica—Festival of Fear,” visitors are walking through a dark area of the Europa-Park that is packed with masked and made-up, scary live actors. The main attraction are seven scary houses as well as an immersive story world that features shock effects as well as sounds and light effects. Groups of visitors are being sent through the mazes with different themes on their own by foot. They will, however, never be touched by the actors. The same applies for the visitors who are not allowed to touch any actors.
“Festival of Fear” takes place on certain dates in a special area of the park with a separate entrance to this restricted area. To reach it, follow the signs to “Horror Nights” after the pedestrian tunnel from the car park. The number of guests in the event area is limited due to the restricted capacity. Admissions to the Traumatica grounds starts at 18:15, and entry to the houses starts at 19:00; last entrance at 23:00 (0:30 for VIP ticket holders). Give yourself extra time as there will be bag checks (drinks, food, weapons, bottles of any kind, and many other items are not permitted—check their website).
You need to be age 16 or over to participate in “Traumatica—Festival of Fear,” and for safety reasons, it is not recommended for pregnant women! Also, costumes and masks are not permitted for visitors! There will be numerous scare attractions and a few rides open for the event guests.
Tickets are € 33-49, depending on the date, and allow you one-time access to all seven houses. It is best to buy your tickets online well in advance as the event sells out rather quickly, especially the dates closest to Halloween. Entry ticket does not include parking (€ 10), which should be booked when booking your entrance ticket.
