Trio Toth

When the Toth sibling trio takes the stage, something truly unique happens: they captivate with profound musicality, impressive familial interplay, and a refined sense of tonal color. With stylistic sensitivity, they take you on a journey through the rich piano trio repertoire of three centuries. The concert opens with Joseph Haydn's Piano Trio in C major—a work full of playful elegance and refined wit, composed during a trip to England. With ease and sophistication, it unfolds Haydn's characteristic humor and pioneering chamber music style. Benjamin Britten's Trio Introduction and Allegro is a rarity and offers a fascinating glimpse into the early work of the British composer. The piece transports you to shimmering, ethereal soundscapes while simultaneously surprising with folk-inspired elements and incisive rhythms. Franz Schubert's Notturno presents itself as a musical gem full of heartfelt melodies, subtle sound design, and harmonic subtlety. The evening culminates in Antonín Dvořák's expansive Piano Trio No. 3. This passionate, dramatic work, brimming with inner turmoil, is among his most significant chamber music compositions. With its symphonic character and enormous emotional range, it stands in striking contrast to the folk-like lightness of the composer's earlier works and occupies a prominent place among the most important piano trios of the 19th century.
Tickets are CHF 31.50-52.10.
