Every year, on the second weekend of June, the UNESCO World Heritage Sites will open their doors and invite you to discover their secrets, their uniqueness, and their extraordinary value. With the exception of 2020, when this event had to be cancelled, more than 30,000 visitors each year are enchanted by the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In addition to the main event, which will take place in Bellinzona this year, local events will be held simultaneously at other UNESCO World Heritage Sites around Switzerland. Find out more about the program of the Swiss World Heritage Days at the individual World Heritage sites in Switzerland at their central website.

One of the participating regions is the Rhaetian Railway Albula / Bernina (RhB). The rail line across the Albula and Bernina passes is a master stroke of structural engineering and route planning. With tight turns, sophisticated structures, amazing tunnels, landscape and railway seamlessly blend together. For some it is a voyage of discovery of the history of trains, others enjoy seeing the trailblazing structures from up close, and those eager to learn visit the railway museum. The RhB is organizing the railway festival as part of the 175th anniversary of Swiss Railways together with PostBus, Chur and Engadin Bus. A varied program is offered at four different locations around the Landquart train station.
In the Albula Railway Museum and RhB World Heritage Visitor Center, 600 exhibits from more than 100 years of railway history bear witness to pioneering deeds in Graubünden, to the people who shaped the railway, and the landscapes that were shaped by it. On World Heritage Days, the Albula Railway Museum opens its doors free of charge to young and old. Visit one of the free guided tours at 10.30 or 13.30.
