On this evening, the Dorfkirche Riehen will host its first Spanish Night, featuring two fantastic projects. For Marco Mezquida solo piano, the prodigy from the Balearic Islands will be performing solo for the first time here. He impressed audiences a year ago as part of a trio and is a tremendous improviser full of imagination and enthusiasm.
Verónica Ferreiro, the great voice of Galicia has never been heard in Switzerland before; she presents her current trio and new CD. Ferreiro and Javier Sánchez have joined forces to create “CAMIÑO,” a new music project that transcends all genres. Halfway between classical music, folk, and jazz, Ferreiro's very personal voice and Galician lyrics blend magically with Sánchez’ sophisticated compositions and arrangements. Their live performances are a fascinating journey that transports the audience into a world of ethereal wonders and surreal beauty. Their ability to convey pure vulnerability and joyful elation is nothing short of breathtaking. Ferreiro's soulful and captivating voice, paired with Sánchez’ skill as a masterful jazz improviser on the guitar, creates a mesmerizing synergy that defies description.
