VivaCello Festival Breakfast Concert II — Martinů und Mozart

After a four-year break, the fabulous VivaCello Festival is back! This edition, which is called "Furiant," will take place once again in the old town of Liestal with a total of 13 concerts, including atmospheric morning concerts in the Mooi restaurant, after-work concerts in the Kulturscheune, and symphony and chamber concerts in the Stadtkirche that tell of the rich musical culture of Bohemia. The Bohemian dance "Furiant," which means "enthusiastic," sets the standard for the music and protagonists of this festival that is all about the cello.
For this second breakfast concert, Anna Brugger and Oszkar Varga on viola will be playing Bohuslav Martinů’s Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola and Wolfgang Amadé Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Viola in G major, K. 423. The Madrigals for Violin and Viola can be considered the real masterpieces of this genre—after Mozart's duos K. 423 and 424. By playing chords, tremolos, and other sound effects, the two instruments achieve the sonority of a string quartet; the motivic exchange of blows and the rhythmic energy of the outer movements together with the ethereal soundscapes form a perfect unit. In the Czech folk tone of the finale, the national roots of his art, but also his longing for his homeland, become audible.
No matter what Mozart touched, it became perfect. The greatest genius in the history of music was able to write perfect music on the side without any effort.
Enjoy a morning of invigorating live music accompanied by a plentiful breakfast.
Tickets are CHF 30, which includes concert and breakfast.
