20:00-21:15

Four singers perform the “isicathamiya,” an a cappella song of the Zulus of South Africa. As their voices rise, nine possessed dancers engage in powerfully symbolic and emotional gestures, somewhere between anger and sadness. In this macabre cemetery setting, the power of resilience is performed before your astonished eyes, through the poetry of exorcised movement. A grandiose piece that reminds you that between the injustice of the past and that of the present, there is only one step. Inspired by the character Toloki from “Ways of Dying” and “Cion” by Zakes Mda, Gregory Maqoma has reinterpreted Maurice Ravel's “Boléro” in a cathartic requiem. This internationally renowned dancer, choreographer, and director has received numerous awards, including the 2017 Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. A work imagined as a lament, necessary for the healing of memory and the heart.
Tickets are € 34-38.
