For the annual World Oceans Day, the Basel Zoo is organizing a special program in and around the Vivarium and the main entrance. The motto this year is "From corals to sea cucumbers—amazing records among invertebrates." Invertebrates account for 96% of all animals and include sea creatures such as starfish, crabs, sponges, worms, and many more. This day will highlight these often overlooked sea-dwelling creatures and their amazing feats.
From 13:30-17:30, visitors can look behind the scenes and get information from animal caretakers about the records achieved by their charges; learn more about the invertebrate inhabitants of the Vivarium, and print their own bag with a salmon motif.
