From rhythm ‘n' blues to cumbia, from afrobeats to Balkan brass, from soul to ska. A bit of Fellini here, a little Celentano there, sometimes crazy rhythms, then again straight-forward pum-chack. For over 30 years now, the WSO Werkstattorchester Basel has been grooving through the danceable music of the world, sometimes boldly reaching into the box of popular hits, only to surprise immediately afterwards with hidden gems from a wide variety of genres. The cross-generational formation, consisting of five wind instruments, a four-person rhythm section, and the stunning Sanja Popovic on the microphone, is a listening pleasure and gets every hall moving.
