“My sound reflects the richness and mix of cultures I carry within me today. It reflects what I am—a woman, Cuban, musician, and citizen of the world," says Yilian Cañizares, one of the most fascinating contemporary violinists, singers, and composers. The musician, who was born in Havana but has lived in Switzerland since 2000, effortlessly combines jazz, classical music, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Two critically acclaimed albums, “Ochumare” (2013) and “Invocación” (2015), have cemented her reputation as one of Latin America's most innovative and exciting artists. Her latest album “Erzulie,” named after the Haitian goddess of love and freedom, was released in November 2019. Cañizares originally planned to tour with it in March 2020, but she decided to start a new project with the Resilience Trio in the face of the pandemic. As the name says, she wants to defy the odds and sow hope with her songs.
Tickets are € 35 for adults and € 28 for students.
