Younee
Younee, the composer and singer-songwriter from South Korea, has long since made a name for herself not only with her unique and virtuoso piano playing. Her spontaneous and freely composed pieces during her live performances can almost take your breath away and always trigger great enthusiasm in the audience. Her first two German albums stormed the bestseller charts to number 1. On her first album “Jugendstil,” Mozart, Beethoven, and other “classics” were still an inspiration for her, on the second album “My Piano” you can hear exclusively her own compositions, which are all intuitive, spontaneous, and unexpected right up to the last note, without slipping into kitschy realms or virtuosity for virtuosity's sake. The way she performs her music live for her audience is not only extremely charming, it's as if she reinvents her music every time.
A classically trained and award-winning pianist, Younee plays almost everything and all of it with her very own stamp. Classical, blues, jazz, or pop melodies and she can sing too, with a voice that gets under your skin. Today, she is one of the few pianists in the world who can play classical music as well as jazz and improvisation.
In addition, she has written music for Korean and now also German film productions, songs for pop and rock artists, as well as hits for herself. She released a pop/jazz vocal album “True to You” in England and appeared on BBC Woman's Hour and was appointed to the illustrious circle of pianists who are allowed to play at the famous Steinway Festival.
