Young Chamber Choir Basel — Homage to Clytus Gottwald
The autumn project of the Junger Kammerchor Basel (Young Chamber Choir Basel) shows that a song recital performed by a chamber choir does not have to be a contradiction in terms. With the vocal arrangements by German composer and choir director Clytus Gottwald, it combines the intimacy of the art song with the sound of a choir with up to 16 voices. The concert is a tribute to the compositional work of Gottwald, who died in January 2023 and whose vocal transcriptions have made a great contribution to the choral repertoire. At the same time, it offers the audience the unique opportunity to exclusively experience works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Gustav Mahler, Maurice Ravel, and many others who did not leave any compositions for a cappella choir in their oeuvre, with Gottwald's transcriptions.
