Zirka Zirkus — Thaïs Martin: MAMIMOURU

Station Circus once again invites you to discover the world of contemporary circus arts in Basel through a program called “Zirka Zirkus,” where you can discover experiments that blur the lines between circus, performance, theater, dance, music, and visual arts as well as light and media design.
“MAMIMOURU” in one word. Like a block, something dense and delicate. The title came to the artist unexpectedly when his grandmother died and he was asked to write a text for her funeral. “MAMIMOURU” is a play with compartments. It is a character's search for an answer to their existential or everyday questions. It is an inner journey to understand the extent of fear and give it form. It is an attempt to define the contours of a funeral, of mourning, of the possibility of dying there. It is a clown who shares his states of mind, but above all, raises the question of self-love and how to manage to feel good about oneself. It is an attempt to pay homage to the non-living and to celebrate the days, the small steps. To surround oneself with people one loves. The performance will be in French with German subtitles.
On Friday, November 7, there will be a warm-up before the performance at 19:30 where you can try out the moves from the performance. No prior experience is necessary.
Tickets are CHF 15-30 for adults and CHF 7 for youths up to age 18.
