Station Circus once again invites you to discover the world of contemporary circus arts in Basel through a program called Zirka Zirkus. The programs present experiments that blur the lines between circus, performance, theater, dance, music, and visual arts as well as light and media design in the circus tent at Dreispitz (Station Circus).
This performance is an introspective exchange with the public. A black circle. A pendulum draws a fine spiral of white sand. The movement creates patterns, which become images. The images intertwine, one overlays the other—disappearing and appearing. The circle represents an echo of the circus ring, where danger and vulnerability are real. Nothing can be hidden. Everything is there. Ueli Hirzel began his long circus career many years ago as a tightrope walker and clown. Since the 1980s, he has repeatedly caused a sensation with his circus groups and productions (e.g. Varieté Circus Aladin, Cirque O) and is a pioneer of contemporary circus in Switzerland.
Experience this 55-minute circus act and watch a circus film (Thinking Circus) before or after the act for free. This circus is ideal for families with kids ages 8 and up.
The performances on November 23 and 30 are double performance evenings with Circus FahrAwaY.
Tickets are CHF 28 for adults and CHF 18 for students for single performances. Combi tickets for double performances are CHF 45 for adults and CHF 30 for children and students.
