Fondation Beyeler
Until August 31, 2025

To coincide with the “Vija Celmins” exhibition, the Fondation Beyeler will show a presentation of their collection entitled “There is only one thing I fear in life, my friend: One day, the black will swallow the red” that will focus exclusively on painting. Each room will be dedicated to one artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Bradford, Marlene Dumas, Wade Guyton, Pablo Picasso, Gerhard Richter, Mark Rothko, Wilhelm Sasnal, Wolfgang Tillmans, und Andy Warhol, all of whom revolutionized this classical medium either by opening it up to new perspectives or by transgressing its traditional boundaries. Highlights include the presentation of Richter’s digital projection “Moving Picture (946-3), Kyoto Version, 2019-2024,” which is shown for the first time in a museum; Warhol’s monumental work “Sixty Last Suppers” (1986); and a comprehensive presentation of works by Picasso that comprises more than 30 paintings and sculptures. Complementing these rooms, there will also be a gallery dedicated solely to the large-format works of the American artist Mark Bradford from the Daros Collection.
