The well-known cartoonist, graphic artist, and author Peter Gaymann was inspired by the three-countries border to create new cartoons, drawings, and objects. In addition to his well-known chickens, he also lets pigs, women, men, children, cats, etc. look across the borders and, in addition to the animal and human depths, lets visitors discover unexpected similarities, differences, clichés, and other truths from all areas of life in France, Switzerland, and Germany. Born in Freiburg, he initially worked as a social worker before setting up his own business as a cartoonist and illustrator. Many of his over 100 books are bestsellers. With endearing humor and apt wit, he looks at human strengths and weaknesses. His professional role models are Tomi Ungerer, Sempé, and FK Waechter.

Bizarre, surprising, rarely shown exhibits from the collection of the Dreiländermuseum complement the show. The exhibition “Typical Dreiländer” offers a humorous and varied look at the peculiarities of living together in Alsace, northwestern Switzerland, Baden, and beyond. It is a cooperation between the Dreiländermuseum and Baaske Cartoons, Müllheim in the Markgräflerland.
