Basel’s City Gardeners Give Away Flower Bulbs!

In spring, you can admire hundreds of tulips, narcissus, and other plants bloom in city-maintained flowerbeds and planters across town. However, in May these bulbs are taken out of the beds to be replaced with summer flowers. For logistical reasons, the city’s gardening department cannot store the bulbs to reuse them next year, but they don’t want to throw them away either. Therefore, they are giving them away to Basel’s citizens to re-use in their private gardens.

On Friday, May 26, from 8:00, they will set out crates with the bulbs in 3 locations:

So if you are interested in giving these plants a new life in your garden, you can pick up some bulbs there. But you should try to get there early—only while supplies last!
