Posing as the Basel Tax Administration (Steuerverwaltung) or using generic labels like “ETAX.CH,” these messages claim to contain urgent tax bills, late payment reminders, or offers of tax refunds, often sent from non-official domains such as @eservce.biz. Authorities emphasize that official tax invoices, reminders, and refund notices in Basel are never delivered via email—they are sent exclusively through physical mail or eBill. Recipients are strongly urged not to click any embedded links, open attachments, or share bank or login details, and to verify any suspicious claims directly with the cantonal tax office via official channels.
