Accompanied Swimming in the Rhein

It is highly recommended that you never swim alone in the Rhein. If you would like to swim with a group of people, the Sports Department Basel-Stadt organizes a “group float” from the Tinguely Museum to Wettsteinbrücke at 17:45 on every Tuesday from July 5 to August 30. The Swiss Life-Saving Society of Basel and Oberwil, as well as the water rafting club in Horburg, accompany the swimmer every Tuesday with a Weidling river boat. To ensure that they have enough life guards / safety monitors on the evening, simply register online by 9:00 clicking on the date of participation at www.ed-formulare.ch/begleitetes-rheinschwimmen/anmeldung-begleitetes-rheinschwimmen; if you cannot make it, kindly de-register by phone at 061-267-5768 or by email at sportangebote@bs.ch. If there is a large demand, a decision may be made on site to hold the event in two rounds, which may lead to some waiting times. Disembarkation is in front of the Wettsteinbrücke, where there are showers available. This offer is completely free and aimed at confident swimmers of all ages. It is highly recommended to wear water shoes and to bring a bag to put your belongings in.
Show-up no later than 17:45 below the Tinguely Museum at the “Chez Jeannot” restaurant.
