Advent magic comes to Rheingasse, the quaint little area of Kleinbasel just over the Mittlere Brücke, in the form of a festively decorated street food festival, with over 30 stands of culinary delicacies, outdoor seating on fur-lined seats, and open fire pits to add to the warm atmosphere. This Christmas market is perfect for those who want more from the pre-Christmas period than just bargain hunting. Residents and stand operators alike enjoy a relaxed chat over a delicious cup of mulled wine. If you’re feeling more adventurous, why not try the legendary Hot Jamie? There is of course plenty to eat as well, ranging from the traditional to the more creative and surprising. Be sure to check out the Gässli Märt (on Färbergässlein in the passage between Rheingasse 31 and Utengasse 32) from December 20-22, where you can find stands selling artistic and creative and delicious wares. Opening hours of the Gässli Märt are Friday 17:00-21:00, Saturday 14:00-21:00, and Sunday 12:00-18:00.
