Under the direction of Olga Pavlu, the Oper Riehen presents an opera gala entitled “Amore Pazzo” with choruses and arias from the European operatic treasury. The musical selection of arias and choral numbers from well-known and lesser-known operas by great composers all revolves around one thing—love. Love accompanies us throughout our lives; it is always there; or not; or not in the way we want, need, or long for. And this, the most diverse forms, facets, and presentations of love or its absence, is the topic of this concert. In its name one blossoms, is heartbroken, sighs, acts with longing, rushes to help, undertakes the impossible, leaps over one's own shadow. Love, in whatever form, in whatever relationship, animates our lives, confirms our existence, and sometimes even drives us crazy—amore pazzo!
