Switzerland cherishes its traditions, and “Figurentheater” (puppet theater) is no exception. The BAFF! festival brings great international figure and object theater productions to Basel. This year’s theme “F(R)ICTION” takes up current social developments and is dedicated to the tension between fiction and friction (which can have meanings ranging from abrasion/resistance to discord/conflict).
For five days, the festival will broaden the audiences’ horizons and encourage them to think: What is resistance? What is colonial behavior? What challenges await us tomorrow? Or should we have acted yesterday after all? From shadow theater for the youngest, to a feminist urban utopia, from dreamy enchantments to challenging, thought-provoking work—BAFF! delivers theater highlights for young and old.
