Ballet with Choir and Orchestra — Carmina Burana

St. Jakobshalle
Thursday, 22 January
20:00-21:50

Franceconcert presents “Carmina Burana,” one of the most famous masterpieces of the 20th century, as a musical and choreographic event. Based on a collection of lyrical poems, “Carmina Burana” was composed by Carl Orff in 1935-1936. This masterful piece, which premiered at the Frankfurt Opera in 1937, has always captivated audiences and continues to move them. The most famous phrase, "O Fortuna," which starts out the work and is repeated at the end, is now world-renowned. The secular and Latin songs, performed passionately and powerfully by the choir and soloists, tell a story about life, death, fate, and above all, love. Nearly 100 artists sing of the joy of spring's return and the pleasures of alcohol, play with the wheel of fortune, and dance about love and lust. This new production explores this musical phenomenon in a sensual and emotional way, demonstrating the inextricable link between music, gesture, and language.
Tickets are CHF 66.40-107.40.
