The motto for this evening of this year's Baloise Session is "True American Roots." Joe Bonamassa with his urban blues-rock and Brandy Clark with rustic country sound show two sides of true American tradition, and they come across as fresh, contemporary, and powerful. Bonamassa continues the rich history of the blues, from the hits of his forerunners B.B. King and Eric Clapton to his own songs. His guitar playing is raw, authentic, and masterful, and his voice is powerful. With her warm voice, Brandy Clark sings her country songs about small-town America, telling stories of modern-day life in the United States. Urban blues-rock and country on the same concert evening—American roots music is alive and kicking!
