On this evening, 45 choirs will bring Basel to life with their singing. The Basler Chornacht brings together a diverse selection of choirs and offers a celebration of singing for a large audience. The choirs will make the diversity of Basel's rich choral scene visible and tangible—from small chamber choirs to large concert choirs, from yodeling to jazz, and from gospel to classical. The numerous styles represent a diverse program.
In the afternoon from 15:00-17.00, Basel's city center will resonate during the "Singing in Public Places" event, including Andreasplatz, Presser/Gerbergasse, Rümelinsplatz, Spalenberg, Theaterplatz, and Rathaus Innenhof. Each concert will last about 30 minutes, followed by a 15-minute break to allow you to change locations. The concerts start at 15:00, 15:45, and 16:30. In case of bad weather, they will take place in the Foyer Public at Theater Basel.
In the evening, the kaleidoscope of choir music can be experienced in various churches, which once again offer a wide selection from 19:30-20:45 at the Martinskirche, Peterskirche, Leonhardskirche, Kulturkirche Paulus, Clarakirche, and Theodorskirche, and from 21:30-22:45 at the Martinskirche, Peterskirche, and Leonhardskirche, as well as at the Stadtcasino Basel, with the new "Choral Kaleidoscope" format, which will present eight choirs that will make the diversity of Basel's choral scene visible and audible in a condensed form. The day ends with a closing concert at Stadtcasion at 23:15.
