“Bebbi” explores how migration and transnational biographies shape artistic practices in Switzerland. Starting with the situation of numerous artists who come to Basel for their studies—for example, at the HGK—and significantly contribute to the local scene, yet often work under precarious conditions and can only remain temporarily, the project creates a space for reflection and exchange. The program includes screenings followed by discussions, an exhibition, and sound performances. The moving image is central as a medium for exploring questions of identity, belonging, and mobility. A particular focus is placed on the exchange between local and international artists. By connecting different perspectives, local issues are placed in a broader context, and a dialogue on shared themes in contemporary art is initiated. “Bebbi” thus promotes networking, knowledge transfer, and the examination of migration as a key component of artistic practice.
