Chicago Dave mo' Blues is a band that formed in 2018 following a performance at the Blues Festival Basel and sees the blues as its musical breeding ground. Together with guest vocalist Nadia Diriwächter, the six experienced mo' Blues musicians go beyond the classic blues pattern of 12 bars. Clearly, "Blues is the preacher" is the unmistakable motto. Band leader Chicago Dave impresses with his authenticity in this genre. The band members of mo' Blues bring their musical experience in various bands and styles to the table. mo' Blues occasionally breaks through the traditional blues repertoire to expand it with wonderful jazz and funk tunes. The result is a soothing musical blend that draws its essence from the vast reservoir of songs by Albert Collins, A.C. Reed, B.B. King, James Cotton, Lucky Peterson, Robert Cray, and many more, while leaving room for titles by Horace Silver and Herbie Hancock. The music of Chicago Dave mo' Blues comes across as fresh, varied, and exciting with a classic line-up of vocals, drums, bass, guitar, harp, sax, and Hammond organ. Smoky rhythm-n-blues classics are played as well as gentle ballads and pulsating soul jazz numbers. The common core of the band is and remains their enthusiasm for music that is honest, lush, groovy, and without a false bottom.
