Camille Thurman Quartet
Camille Thurman is equally accomplished on the tenor saxophone, flute, and vocals. The native New Yorker distinguished herself as a terrific musician as a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (2018-2020). Her own albums as a leader—“Origins” (2013), “Spirit Child” (2014), “Inside the Moment” (2017), and “Waiting for the Sunrise” (2019)—are collections of standards and original compositions and showcase her abilities as an incredibly dynamic singer and instrumentalist. A respected top musician, she has performed at notable venues and festivals around the world, including the Kennedy Center, the Rose Theater, the Winter Jazz Fest, and the Colbert Show.
Thurman has toured and recorded with veteran drummer Darrell Green, an experienced New York drummer and imaginative rhythmist who has worked with leading jazz greats. Together, the two powerhouse musicians have put together a dynamic band featuring rising trumpeter Wallace Roney Jr., formidable guitarist Bruce Edwards, and brilliant bassist Tom DiCarlo. They will perform music from their upcoming release “Fortitude” (which will be released on their Epidote Music label). From Thurman’s dreamy vocals and electrifying saxophone lines to Green’s mesmerizing rhythmic colors and dynamic interpretations of standards and original compositions, this fiery musical team will cause a sensation in the music world.
