Collegium Musicum Basel — Anna Tritt (Dr)auf (Anna Performs)

British organist Anna Lapwood, trained at Oxford and organist of the Royal Albert Hall in London, has opened up a whole new audience for the organ and classical music in general through her passion for her instrument and her presence on social media. She is also known for her innovative combinations of traditional organ repertoire with pop and film music.
Lapwood is a dedicated advocate for young female organists and composers, championing the talents of women in the music industry. A collaboration with her has resulted in the composition "Limina luminis" (Threshold of Light, 2023) by Italian composer Olivia Belli that was written specifically for Lapwood and which she will perform in Basel. This will be followed by Hans Zimmer's suite for Christopher Nolan's science fiction film "Interstellar" (2014).
These two 21st-century pieces are framed by Olivier Messiaen's "Méditation symphonique" for orchestra on Christian themes from 1930, "Les Offrandes oubliées" (The Forgotten Offerings), and by Camille Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3 from 1886, a partly tranquil and contemplative, partly magnificent and festive interplay of orchestra and organ.
Tickets are CHF 49-89.
