Since 2007, with a lot of volunteer commitment and passion, Piano di Primo has been organizing jazz concerts that enable artists of national and international importance to introduce the audience to tried and tested musical specialties and novel ideas. They are organizing a few events per year in the Fachwerk building (Allschwil Local History Museum) in the middle of the idyllic village center of Allschwil, where you can spoil yourself with selected wines, a cold beer, or non-alcoholic refreshments from the bar.
On this evening, David Helbock and Julia Hofer will take the audience on an extraordinary sonic experience and a musical journey full of emotion and innovation. Helbock, a leading figure in Austrian jazz, captivates audiences on every continent with his projects. His virtuosity and creativity have earned him numerous awards, including several prizes at the world’s largest jazz piano solo competition in Montreux. For his current project, Helbock has partnered with the versatile electric bassist and cellist Hofer from Vienna. Her meteoric rise began on Facebook with a bass cover of Michael Jackson’s hit “Get on the Floor,” which garnered over a million views. The duo presents their first joint album, which fascinates with imaginative effects, rhythmic percussive elements on the piano, and the dynamic interplay between cello and electric bass. In autumn 2025, the duo released a new album—a fascinating mix of calm, dreamy original compositions and groovy jazz pieces that bear the unmistakable style of Helbock and Hofer.
