Dreiländerlauf (Three Countries Run) — Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K

This year marks the 33nd edition of the annual Dreiländerlauf, a special running event that covers territory in Switzerland (Basel), France (St. Louis, Huningue), and Germany (Weil am Rhein). All runs start and end at the Marktplatz; this year all runs will start earlier (9:00, 9:30, and 9:45) to beat the heat. Againthis year, there will be a full marathon (42.195 km), in addition to the annual half-marathon of 21.1 km, and the shorter run of 10.1 km. The route passes through the three countries, and crosses over the Rhein four times. The 10-km run has 14 age categories (7 for men and 7 for women), the half- and full-marathon have 12 age categories (6 for men and 6 for women); the youngest category is for teens born 2006-2009.
Registration: You can register online until the start of the race on May 25 on their official website at https://3laenderlauf.org/en/registration/; there is no on-site registration. Registration fees are CHF 80 for the full marathon, CHF 60 for the half-marathon, and CHF 40 for the 10.1 km run.
Getting There: Thanks to support from the TNW (CH), RVL (DE), and Distribus (F), travel to and from the Dreiländerlauf on train, bus, and tram is free for participants on the day of the event. Print out the ticket and take it with you; free transport only applies to participants (not relatives) on May 25 for 2nd class return journey!
Start Numbers: Number bibs will be handed out the day before (May 24) from 10:00-15:00 at the Crédit Agricole Next Bank, Basel agency, St.Alban-Anlage 70, 4010 Basel, or on the day itself (May 25) in a tent on the Marktplatz, starting at 7:00 for the marathon and 7:30 for the other runs. The bibs are equipped with data chips that will calculate the time.
Prizes: All participants will receive a starter bag with finisher T-shirts and the finisher medals after the finish line. Additionally, the first three finishers in each category will receive a special prize. You need to be present to receive prizes as they will not be mailed to you. The award ceremony will start at 12:00 for the 10 km-run, at 13:00 for the half-marathon, and 14:00 for the full marathon on the Marktplatz.
Changing Rooms: Changing rooms will be available for men and women at the Rittergasse-Schulhaus starting at 7:30. You can also get a free massage at this location from the Swiss Massage Team either before or after the race.
Valuables: If you have valuables with you that you don’t want to run with, you can leave them in the inner courtyard of the Rathaus until 14:30, using your start number as your identifier.
