Ebenrain Day 2024

Schloss Ebenrain, Sissach
Sunday, 01 September
10:00-17:00

This year's open day at Ebenrain has the motto "Trees—roots of our future" and is dedicated to the current topic of trees. At various information stands in Ebenrain you can learn new and old things about trees. As every year, there will be various attractions, this year centered around the topic of the tree: watch a basket weaver weaving baskets in the willow pavilion; learn more about the benefits of agroforestry in agriculture; compete to crack walnuts and hit the target with them; see what the students at the vocational school have created out of wood; be amazed at what a single tree achieves every day and what functions it has in the ecosystem; get to know different types of trees and plant a small tree in a pot yourself; and watch an arborist climb trees. There will be plenty of activities for the kids (straw castle, Lama-trekking, pony rides, carriage rides, petting zoo, Ferris wheel, climbing wall); tours of the manor; a farmer’s market with local produce, meats, and milk products; sweet, savory, and liquid culinary treats; music; and much more.
Sissach is about a 20-minute drive from Basel towards Bern; you can also easily reach it by train. From the train station, it is a 10-minute walk to Schloss Ebenrain.
Cost is free and no registration is required.
