For the 11th time, Basel is hosting Fantasy Basel—The Swiss Comic Con, Switzerland’s biggest comic convention for anime, comics, contemporary urban art, cosplay fans, e-sports, film props, games, gaming design, manga, movies, science fiction, steampunk, tattoo art, virtual reality, and walking acts. Fantasy Basel is a mixture of adventure world, exhibition, and party—the place to be for fantasy freaks, digital geeks, and game addicts! Spread over more than 100,000 m2 at the Messe Basel, Fantasy Basel combines art, design, high tech, and passion, allowing creative minds and consumers to spend three days in a real and imaginary world.
Visitors can experience their versatile themed areas where you can dive into the world of cinema movies, TV series, games, comics, street & urban art, science fiction, fantasy, virtual reality, eSports, cosplay, game design, anime, manga, steampunk, tattoo art, medieval times, board games, tabletop games, latest consumer electronics and much more.
One of the highlights this year will be Asian Pop Culture—K-Pop, Katanas, and Karaage. Cool off with a Japanese sweet potato soft ice, treat yourself to a bubble tea, learn K-Pop dances or origami folding, and try out calligraphy techniques.
New this year will be the Community Hall—the cozy meeting place for all visitors and all communities represented at Fantasy Basel. It is the perfect place to strike up a conversation, meet new people with similar interests and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the festival. The bar and food stalls provide plenty of refreshments for a fun get-together, and the private exit means you can quickly get outside in the fresh air.
Visitors can also make new acquaintances! They can meet over 225 artists in the Artist Alley, international cosplayers, tattoo artists, movie actors, voice actors, and many more artists and stars who inspire and surprise them.
The Swiss Cosplay Contest is also about performance this year! The jury will judge costume and performance. In addition to the main prizes, there are special prizes for the best craftsmanship and the best performance.
Celebrities from film, TV, and gaming will also again be live on site for autograph sessions and photos—check the website for up-to-date info on exact times and location. Panels and shows will take place on two big stages and in three panel rooms and cinemas, e-sports on the Swiss Gaming Challenge stage. Visitors can look forward to an extensive program with cool guest stars!
