In 2017, Groove Now put together an all-star troupe called The Blues Giants for the first time, taking its cue from the 1985 "Showdown" project with blues greats Albert Collins, Robert Cray, and Johnny Copeland. The Blues Giants brings together international blues greats of the present day who perform the music of their ancestors and draw on their songs. The 2024 edition of Blues Giants once again features the great singer and entertainer Sugaray Rayford, who was absent two years ago. Also back are Mike Zito, Albert Castiglia, Jimmy Carpenter, and bass legend Jerry Jemmott, as well as the great drummer Jimi Bott.
Due to popular demand, there will be two concerts of The Blues Giants on two consecutive evenings. The last time The Blues Giants performed at Groove Now in 2022, both concerts were recorded. Visitors to this year's Blues Giants performances will have the unique opportunity to buy and have signed the CD of those live recordings, months before the official release. The planned double CD will be released on Zito's label, Gulf Coast Records.
