Celebrated in the largest park in the region on Bern’s local peak, this year's Gurtenfestival will be taking place for the 43rd year! There are over 100 different concerts on four stages—the main stage is at the heart of the festival with the biggest acts; the tent stage with a view of Bern will present up-and-coming artist as well as big acts; the Waldbühne is reserved for known Swiss artists; and the Campfire stage hosts Swiss up-and-coming artists and offers a campfire atmosphere. There are also three separate dance tents that are sure to keep the young crowd bopping. Camping is available nearby (Camping Eichholz), as are many hotels and youth hotels.
This year’s line-up includes KraftKlub, Lily Allen, Lorde, Nina Chuba, Sean Paul, Teddy Swims, and many more.
The festival site can be reached in about 1.5 hours; it is best to take the train and either walk 20 minutes the festival grounds or take a 7-minute train ride.
Tickets are for full days; you can buy 1-day (CHF 131), 2-day (CHF 236), 3-day (CHF 315) or 4-day (CHF 367) tickets through their website; comfort tickets are also available. Kids born in 2014 or later can attend with a paying adult for free. Kids' tickets must now be ordered through the ticket shop (with a processing and system fee of CHF 8.00 per ticket). You will need a valid ticket adult to place your order—complete your purchase first, then add up to two Kids & Youth tickets in the same category. Teenagers ages 13-15 can purchase discounted tickets in the ticket shop; they do not need not accompany an adult.
