Celebrated in the largest park in the region on Bern’s local peak, this years Gurtenfestival celebrates 40 years! There are over 100 different concerts on 4 stages—the main stage is at the heart of the festival with the biggest acts; the tent stage with a view of Bern will present up-and-coming artist as well as big acts; the Waldbühne is reserved for known Swiss artists; and the Campfire stage hosts Swiss up-and-coming artists and offers a campfire atmosphere. There are also 3 separate dance tents that are sure to keep the young crowd bopping. Camping is available nearby (Camping Eichholz), as are many hotels and youth hotels.
This year’s line-up includes Apache 207, Tom Odell, J Balvin, Rosalía, Lil Nas X, Deichkind, Die Toten Hosen, Angèle, Hecht, Phoenix, Lo & Leduc, Fettes Brot, Pongo, Jacob Banks, Obong Jayar, Cara Cara, Leoniden, Lola Marsh, and many more.
The festival site can be reached in about 1.5 hours; it is best to take the train and either walk 20 minutes the festival grounds or take a 7-minute train ride.
Tickets are for full days; you can buy 1-day (CHF 121, CHF 99 for Sunday), 2-day (CHF 218), 3-day (Thursday to Saturday, CHF 290) or 4-day (Wednesday to Saturday, CHF 339) tickets through their website.
